The Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup is underway, offering promising young martial artists the opportunity to showcase their skills at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. The competition will feature athletes from various clubs and academies in the UAE, all vying for both medals and the chance to win cash prizes.
This year’s tournament features four categories, under 14, under 16, under 18, and adults, with each category open to male and female athletes. The preliminary competitions for the under-14 and under-16 categories commence on Friday 7 April 2023, followed by the under-18 category on Saturday 8 April 2023. The preliminary competitions will conclude with the adult category fights on Sunday 9 April 2023.
Youssef Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The Jiu-Jitsu President’s Cup championship represents great value. The tournament has developed significantly over the past years and continues its role as one of the most prominent stations for nurturing talents and heroes, providing national teams with the most distinguished and brilliant players.”
Al-Batran emphasised the importance of the Jiu-Jitsu President's Cup as an essential platform for talent and tomorrow’s champions, urging fans to show up at the stands to support the clubs and players, and to enjoy Ramadan evenings full of competition and enthusiasm.
In the previous edition of the tournament, Al Ain Club claimed victory in the under 16 category of the men’s division, while Baniyas Club emerged as champions in both the under 18 and adult categories.
Among the women, Palms Sports Academy Team 777 secured the title in the under 16 category, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club claimed victory in the under 18 category and Baniyas emerged as champions in the adult category.
