Elite triathletes from across the world will gather on Hudayriyat Island in Abu Dhabi from 15-16 February 2025 for the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series Abu Dhabi powered by TAQA.

The sprint-distance, featuring renowned names of the sport, will set the tone for a 6-stop Series, as they compete for early-season victory and a shot at the 2025 World Championship crown. With its state-of-the-art sporting facilities and cutting-edge infrastructure, Hudayriyat Island will elevate the race experience with its flat, fast course, natural surroundings, and modern amenities.

The weekend, alongside the Para and Age-group races, will include individual Elite Men’s and Women’s races on Saturday, 15 February, and a Mixed Relay event on Sunday, 16 February.

Paris Olympics 2024 silver medallist Hayden Wilde (New Zealand) leads the men’s field as he looks to build on a successful 2024 season and secure an early win in the competition for the 2025 title. Rival Alex Yee (United Kingdom) is focusing on the London Marathon, leaving the door open for Wilde to make his mark. Rising stars Matt Hauser (Australia) and Vasco Vilaça (Portugal) are also poised for strong performances, alongside Jonas Schomburg (Germany) and the Brazilian duo, Manoel Messias and Miguel Hidalgo. Fans can expect a lightning-fast 5km finale on the smooth Hudayriyat course.

The women’s race is set to feature a strong German contingent, led by Lisa Tertsch and Laura Lindemann. Reigning Olympic champion Gwen Jorgensen (United States) returns for another full WTCS season, while Taylor Spivey (United States) aims to build on her 2023 performance in Abu Dhabi. Defending champion Leonie Periault (France) will also be back, looking to retain her title, alongside a talented group of athletes including Jeanne Lehair (Luxembourg), Tilda Månsson (Sweden), and Rosa Maria Tapia (Mexico).

Olympian and Team USA representative Taylor Spivey said: “I’m thrilled to return to the World Triathlon Championship Series in Abu Dhabi this February. It’s always special to kick off the season in such a vibrant city. The support and hospitality I’ve experienced here make it feel like a second home. I’m looking forward to racing in a fantastic environment and giving it my all on the course. Let’s make this season unforgettable.”
