His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, has attended part of the competitions of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship – Round 3 (No-Gi), organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation at Al Bait Metwahed, Sharjah, from 27-29 September 2024.
His Excellency presented medals to the winners in the Masters and Adults categories, expressing pride in the stellar performances by the athletes. His Excellency also praised the efforts of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation to advance the sport, expand the base of practitioners, and cement the UAE’s reputation, particularly Abu Dhabi, as the world jiu-jitsu capital.
The event will attract more than 1,500 athletes across three days of competition in the Adults, Masters, U12, U14, U16, and Youth categories.
His Excellency was accompanied by His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; His Excellency Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club; and Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the UAEJJF.
His Excellency Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, President of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Union, and Senior Vice President of the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to for his generous visit and his continued support for the sport. Alhashmi noted that the achievements made in the realm of jiu-jitsu within the UAE are a result of the wise leadership’s support and guidance, emphasising the role the sport plays in promoting health, and fitness, and instilling noble values in the community, as well as nurturing a strong generation of champions.
