The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced the opening of 33 new parks as part of its ongoing liveability strategy, aimed at elevating the overall quality of life for residents by providing more accessible outdoor zones that encourage healthier lifestyles and social interaction.
The new public green spaces have been designed with the specific needs and preferences of the city’s communities in mind. They feature a wide range of amenities, including picnic areas and shaded seating, children’s play areas, fitness zones, jogging tracks, and various sports courts for paddle, basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Additionally, they will feature jogging tracks, Multi-Use Game Areas (MUGA), and more. Enhanced accessibility and facilities will also be provided for People of Determination, ensuring that all members of the public can enjoy the parks’ diverse recreational opportunities.
Hamada Al Hashemi, Director of the Urban Design Divion at DMT, said: “We are proud to announce the completion of these public hubs, which are thoughtfully designed to encourage healthier, more active lifestyles and serve as communal areas for fitness, leisure, and connection in both Mohamed Bin Zayed City and Abu Dhabi as a whole. By delivering these projects, we are ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or ability, has access to high-quality leisure facilities.”
The opening of these parks highlights DMT’s ongoing efforts to create dynamic and inclusive environments that cater to the needs of communities across the emirate. These spaces aim to support DMT’s efforts to establish hubs that promote health, recreation, connection and community engagement.
