As part of the continuous efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 and ensuring the availability of vaccine for all community in line with “Choose to Vaccinate” campaign, Abu Dhabi has updated the locations of free vaccines based on vaccine type, adding Pfizer- BioNTech vaccine to its list of available vaccines in the emirate. The vaccine will be offered to eligible citizens and residents in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi starting from today.

Free vaccines available for all eligible citizens and residents at certain locations in the emirate. Sinopharm vaccine is available at more than 100 locations across Abu Dhabi emirate, by appointment and walk-in at all healthcare facilities as previously announced, as well as the drive through-centers and Majlis. Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available at designated vaccination centres, by appointment only at SEHA COVID-19 Vaccination Centers in Abu Dhabi (Al Zafaranah Diagnostic & Screening Center, Madinat Mohamed Bin Zayed Healthcare Center and Al Bahia Healthcare Center) Al Ain (Oud Al Touba Diagnostic and Screening Center and Neima Healthcare Center) Al Dhafra Region (Al Dhafra Family Medicine Center) and at Mubadala Health COVID-19 vaccination centers in Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Healthpoint, Capital Health Screening Center Al Jazeera Sports Club branch, and Mubadala Tower in Abu Dhabi, as well as in Capital Health Screening Center Al Ain branch in Al Ain. The vaccine will be administered in two doses, 21 days apart to all eligible UAE citizens and residents holding an Abu Dhabi visa to those who have not previously received any COVID-19 vaccination.  

Clinical trials have shown the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to be 95% effective in preventing symptomatic laboratory-confirmed COVID-19.

The Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed said: “Despite achieving one of the fastest vaccination programme and the second highest, our leadership continue to take the steps needed to protect the public and ensuring smooth recovery through collaboration and deploying the best to tools.  I am delighted to announce that we have secured sufficient current and future doses to enhance our vaccination efforts. This strategy empowers us to offer the Abu Dhabi population a choice of the best and safest of vaccines available globally, and it will help to bolster our fight against COVID-19 significantly, while ultimately ensuring the health and safety of our community.”

H.E. Al Hamed called upon all eligible citizens and residents in the emirates to take the vaccine against COVID-19 and support the dedicated efforts of our wise leadership in curbing the spread of the pandemic and reaching herd immunity. H.E emphasized the importance of continuing to take every necessary precaution to prevent the virus by wearing masks, sterilizing regularly and social distancing.

As part of the continuous efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Ministry of Health and prevention, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority and Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre launched a nationwide free vaccination campaign for all UAE nationals and residents. Abu Dhabi began deploying its vaccination program for the public towards the end of last year, after making the COVID-19 vaccine available to frontline healthcare workers and government officials beginning September 2020. The Emirate has designated 133 centres for vaccination distribution. So far over 9 million doses of vaccines have been administrated to people across the UAE, thereby by passing the initial target of vaccinating half of the eligible population by the end of March 2021.

The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is available to citizens and residents as per the eligibility criteria, and requires an Emirates ID, a valid Abu Dhabi visa for residents, and the downloaded AlHosn app on the individuals’ phone.
