The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has celebrated the achievements of its inventors, faculty, and researchers who secured patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2024. The ceremony, held in the presence of His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE and Chancellor of UAEU, recognised 37 distinguished innovators for their groundbreaking contributions to research and technological advancement.
In his address, Chancellor Nusseibeh emphasised the critical role of innovation in driving the UAE’s national development and enhancing human prosperity. He reaffirmed UAEU’s commitment to fostering a dynamic research ecosystem that transforms visionary ideas into commercially viable solutions with real-world impact.
His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh said: “In 2024, UAEU secured 30 new patents, expanding its total portfolio to 287 registered patents across a wide range of industries,” he stated. “These achievements not only strengthen our partnerships with industry but also accelerate the commercialisation of cutting-edge research.”
The Chancellor encouraged researchers to continue aligning their work with national priorities, maximising the economic and intellectual impact of their innovations. He also commended the UAEU Intellectual Property Office for its efforts in streamlining patent registration and promoting applied research.
“We take immense pride in our inventors and remain steadfast in our support for their pioneering work,” he added. “Their contributions enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness and drive national progress.”
The patented innovations span diverse fields, including chemical technology, materials science, environmental engineering, renewable energy, medical applications, advanced manufacturing, and artificial intelligence. These breakthroughs reaffirm UAEU’s dedication to leading-edge research that addresses both national and global challenges.
