Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH) has welcomed a delegation from Austria, led by His Excellency Dr Etienne Berchtold, Austrian Ambassador to the UAE, who visited the university to gain a deeper understanding of its work in promoting tolerance and coexistence in the global community.
His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Emirates Fatwa Council and Chairman of the Higher Academic Council of the MBZUH, His Excellency Dr Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of MBZUH and His Excellency Dr Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Director General of the Emirates Fatwa Council, received the Austrian delegation. The attendees shared insights about the university’s academic programmes, its cultural and literary initiatives, along with community activities that support its commitment to promoting tolerance and coexistence.
His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, Chairman of the Emirates Fatwa Council and Chairman of the Higher Academic Council of the MBZUH, said: “The visit provided a great opportunity for consultation in many areas of interest to both sides, indicating that it could potentially lead to better ties in the future.”
His Excellency appreciated the Austrian delegation for visiting the MBZUH and believed that there is optimism from both sides to explore exchanging expertise and experience in upholding common human values that unite people and support human fraternity. The delegation gained insight on the university's academic programmes and research activities, as well as an understanding of the university’s key programmes and specialisations in the field of Humanities, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Philosophy.
The visitors were also given a comprehensive brief on the vision and legacy of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who was a advocate of human fraternity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence among different cultures and peoples of the world.
