Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities is organising a number of community events in Al Ain during Ramadan. The initiatives are part of the university’s efforts to celebrate the holy month, promote the values of citizenship and community solidarity and consolidate the practice of tolerance and peaceful coexistence in society.
The events are being organised to provide opportunities for family bonding as well as to spread happiness and positivity during the blessed month. A number of sessions will focus on enhancing young people’s knowledge of family values and fostering greater participation in community service initiatives.
The activities will be held in a number of locations, including the Zayed House for Islamic Culture and Abu Dhabi councils. There will be several cultural and religious evenings, to help raise awareness about Emirati family practices, while at the same time provide opportunities for public enjoyment and community interaction through literary and poetic activities as well as religious and national competitions.
An important highlight of the events will be the daily distribution of Iftar meals to break the fast at key locations throughout the city, including high traffic intersections and signals in Al Ain, as well as the preparation of Suhoor meals in cooperation with the Al Watan Volunteer Team.
Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, in cooperation with the Al Ain Youth Council, is also launching the Humanities and Youth initiative under the slogan Community Values, to promote dialogue on national and societal values during the holy month. The initiative includes three dialogue sessions taking place at the house of Mohammed bin Khalifa, where discussion will focus on the role of platforms in promoting national identity, community values, and the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan in consolidating humanitarian principles, in addition to the role of the family as the basic foundation for building societies. The initiative aims to provide an intellectual platform to bring together young people and experts who can provide guidance and share insights with the youth on strengthening personal and religious values as well as contributing to community service.
This is in addition to a variety of events and lectures on Islamic culture at the Majlis of Dar Zayed for Islamic Culture. A Knowledge is Light initiative will also be organised by the university in cooperation with the Family Development Foundation, where a number of distinguished students will help teach the Arabic language, writing and reading to senior citizens.
Dr Khalifa Al Dhaheri, chancellor of the university, said: “These events are being organised as part of the university’s efforts to serve the community and to contribute towards strengthening people’s faiths. Equally important, these event form part of our commitment to annually celebrate the blessed month of Ramadan.”
Dr Al Dhaheri emphasised that the university’s Ramadan events contribute to strengthening the bonds of harmony, solidarity, and human fraternity in the community, as well as provide the opportunity to learn about the customs and traditions of the Emirati people during the holy month.
