Rabdan Academy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and Cranfield University, launched the ‘Master of Science in Systems Engineering Specialising in Defence’ Program, which is being held for the first time at the country and region.
The new program comes within the framework of a strategic partnership that serves UAE future aspirations, and provides a fruitful learning experience in specialised and important fields, aiming to qualify experts specialised in designing and constructing systems that provide innovative solutions in the fields of defence, security, education, economics, infrastructure, power, transportation and water, alongside other key contexts.
The program, which is nationally and internationally accredited, has been designed by a group of multinational experts, who have rich scientific, academic and practical knowledge, and it includes specialised courses aligned with best international practices covering both theoretical and practical aspects. Program Graduates will work as systems engineers who are able to find innovative solutions to the world’s most complex systems challenges.

James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, said: “Today, we are proud to launch this specialised and first-of-its-kind program, which will contribute to the national capacity building efforts, and support the priorities of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 in developing a highly skilled, highly productive work force.”
Morse added that the program is held in cooperation with Cranfield University, one of the world-leading universities in commercial research, consultancy and professional development, noting that the participants will be awarded dual degree certificates from Rabdan Academy and Cranfield University.
The duration of the program is one academic year (12 months) on a full-time basis. The program aims to graduate five batches for the next five years, at a rate of (20) students per batch. The program will be implemented at Rabdan Academy Campus in Abu Dhabi as part of a comprehensive and integrated plan, where a group of Cranfield faculty will be present at Rabdan Academy to implement the program along with Rabdan faculty within an effective learning experience that ensures the highest quality standards.
It is noteworthy that Cranfield University is an elite UK university operating at the postgraduate level, ranked in the top ten in the UK for commercial research, consultancy and professional development - with 88% of its research rated as world-leading as per the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF).
