The Emirates College for Advanced Education (ECAE) Summer Camp 2023 has hosted 30 students in collaborative hands-on workshops to upskill their technological and innovative talents, as well as enhance environmental awareness, supporting Abu Dhabi’s efforts to empower future leaders of sustainability drivers across key sectors.
Students at the Summer Enrichment Camp, which took place from 7-11 August, took part in collaborative skill-building workshops. Hosted at the Continuing Education Center (CEC) in Abu Dhabi, the students were engaged in project-based learning activities aligned with the UAE Year of Sustainability: Today for Tomorrow, and designed and created personalised artworks using laser cutting and engraving techniques.
Designed for students between the ages of 11-17, the Go Green Summer Camp offered students a distinctive platform to foster their academic knowledge, personal skills and innovative prowess. By participating in hands-on workshops, students were able to demonstrate and enhance their abilities, while working towards becoming the change-makers of the future. The week also included a field trip to learn more about how to be environmentally friendly in their community.
The key elements of the Summer Camp 2023 involved a Go Green Innovation HUB that empowered students to become more environmentally aware and active by delving into the principles and practices of sustainability. The aim of the activity was to foster a sense of responsibility towards creating a sustainable future in the students.
Students also took part in the Mastering Laser Cutting and Engraving Techniques workshop at the FAB Lab. The FAB Lab provided the most up-to-date technologies, tools and programmes in digital fabrication and the opportunity to collaborate and create. During the camp, students were able to explore the realms of their creativity while becoming skilled in laser cutting and engraving in the ECAE’s esteemed CEC FAB Lab.
