The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) has launched the Dual Healthcare Program between Fatima College of Health Sciences (FCHS) and Applied Technology Schools (ATS).

This programme allows high-achieving students from Applied Technology Schools across the UAE to enrol in courses at Fatima College of Health Sciences during their secondary education. The courses will be recognised as accredited hours when applying to health-related courses at Fatima College of Health Sciences. The Dual Healthcare Program is the first of its kind in Abu Dhabi, enabling 11th and 12th grade students studying the health sciences curriculum at ATS to take courses that will be waived upon enrolment at Fatima College of Health Sciences. The programme is part of ACTVET's ongoing efforts to empower young UAE National talents in vital sectors closely tied to sustainable development in the UAE.

His Excellency Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training, said: "Investing in young national talents and empowering them to work in vital sectors is at the forefront of our priorities. This direction reflects the wise leadership's vision in Abu Dhabi, which aims to enhance citizens' contribution to sustainable development efforts.  Here, the role of partnerships and the importance of working with a team spirit are highlighted, as they have become indispensable elements for success in preparing a generation of highly skilled and productive individuals.”

The initiative aims to underscore the ACTVET’s commitment to enhancing partnerships aimed at achieving educational excellence and innovation and supporting a smooth transition for students from high school to college.

The pilot phase of the programme began in January 2024 at Applied Technology Schools. The programme spans 16 weeks and offers three courses: Fundamentals of Nursing, Health and Wellbeing, and Communication Skills for Healthcare Professionals, each providing three credited hours. The courses are taught at Fatima College of Health Sciences branches in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, or Ajman after regular school days.

The programme provides students with an opportunity to enhance their educational experience, develop their skills, and establish a strong foundation for joining college. It also aims to help students adapt to university life and encourage more UAE National talents to pursue careers in the healthcare sector.
