Rabdan Academy and the Republic of Indonesia Defense University (RIDU) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Sentul, Indonesia, with the aim of launching joint cooperation between both sides in the scientific, academic and professional fields across safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness and crisis management sectors.
Under the MOU, the two parties will exchange high-level information, expertise and experiences, establish joint research and development (R&D) projects, and develop academic and professional programs related to defence and security, together with enhancing multidisciplinary capacity building within the framework of an impactful partnership between the two parties.
This initiative contributes to the implementation of joint student exchange programs, enabling students from both sides to engage in a new educational environment with different instructors and colleagues, which ultimately leads to the promotion of the exchange of knowledge and experiences and the refinement of skills within an exceptional experience that combines academic, cultural, community and professional aspects.
H.E. James Morse, President of Rabdan Academy, said: "We are always keen to establish impactful strategic partnerships with world-leading academic and research institutions, and we consider RIDU as one of the key partners that will add value during the next stage in the development of unique programs in the military and defence fields, both in an academic and professional context, along with working together through world-class projects, initiatives and research that reflect the excellence and leadership of the two institutions”
For his part, Vice Admiral Prof. Dr. Amarulla Octavian, Rector of RIDU, said: "RIDU considers academic collaborations both with national and international partners as one of key components in achieving the best quality of education, including in the field of defence and security. The academic cooperation between RIDU and Rabdan Academy is hoped to give positive impacts on the quality of teaching and research, through exchange programs that enrich international experiences of students and lectures, and through jointly developed study programs that facilitate transfers of knowledge and skills needed for capacity building in both institutions. We hope that we can maintain a long term partnership with Rabdan Academy for the benefits of our two universities and our two countries, Indonesia and United Arab Emirates”.
Rabdan Academy and RIDU are both higher education institutions that offer specialised academic programs in safety, security, defence, emergency preparedness and crisis management sectors, and both offer professional development programs aligned with the best international standards and practices. This joint context will contribute to establishing joint development plans and a solid base for flexible cooperation to move towards the future at a fast pace.
The two sides will provide technical and consulting services to upgrade their cadres and align their practices with international bodies, in addition to providing a platform for positive interaction and organising joint workshops, seminars and conferences to support and develop the educational and training process under a deep strategic vision and an effective participatory effort.
It is worth noting that RIDU is a higher education institution under the ministry of defence that conducted education at vocational, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels which focus on defence and security matters. RIDU provides strategic insight to support the development of Indonesia’s military and defence from an academic perspective.
