Silal, Abu Dhabi’s leading food, agriculture, and technology company, announced that its state-of-the-art automated packhouse in Al Ain will deliver up to 216 tonnes of fresh produce daily, and will be the largest of its kind in the UAE.
Covering an area spanning 14,000 square metres, Silal’s automated packhouse includes a 4,930 square metre grading and packing area, strengthening Silal’s role in supporting the local farming industry.
In line with Silal’s commitment to sustainability, the packhouse incorporates the latest in innovative and advanced technology in post-harvest operations.
The world-class facility encompasses an automated system for packing locally grown produce in less than 60 seconds. The automation process calculates the weight, dimension, and condition of fruits and vegetables and adjusts packing accordingly to ensure flawless results.
The packhouse is expected to handle 65 per cent of Silal’s future crops.
