The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) is conducting awareness and inspection campaigns in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, in continuation of its Together Blessings Last awareness campaign launched last year to reduce food loss and waste (FLW) in Abu Dhabi.
The campaigns will include smart shopping tips, field visits and awareness campaigns targeting food establishments that aims to reduce FLW and ensure compliance with health and safety requirements at all stages of food handling, with the wellbeing and safety of community members in mind.
The inspection campaigns will assess the following food-related establishments for food safety compliance: food outlets, food warehouses, distribution centres and suppliers, restaurants, popular kitchens, central kitchens, bakeries, confectionery production and sales facilities, retail outlets, meat selling establishments, mobile carts, and popular confectionery shops, especially those that operate continuously during the evening hours.
Housewives will also be reminded of the importance of safe food handling and quality assurance.
ADAFSA urged the public to report any violations detected in any food establishment, by calling the toll-free number for the Abu Dhabi Government, 800555.
