Abu Dhabi is today recognised as a global hub for R&D and innovation – a result of strategic investment, agile governance and a connected ecosystem of private, public and academic organisations. Overseeing all R&D activity in Abu Dhabi is the Advanced Technology and Research Council (ATRC), which has identified seven key focus areas: autonomous robotics, cryptography, advanced materials, quantum computing, digital security, directed energy and secure systems. All will be advanced through the establishment of new R&D centres. Other key government organisations committed to R&D include the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), which administers the AgTech Incentive Fund, and ADQ, which has a diverse portfolio of 25 major enterprises and holds the significant Ventures Fund.
