Zayed International Airport has organised an art show of the series Safe Trip, and I Met a Traveler from an Antique Land, both of which will be part of the art collection on display at the newly launched terminal after being presented to the airport by Sheikha Fakhra bint Diab bin Saif Al Nahyan in the presence of the artist Sheikha Alyazia bint Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.
Sheikha Fakhra bint Diab bin Saif Al Nahyan presented the art work and received a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of Sheikha Alyazia bint Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan from Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Airports.
The visit and presentation began with a welcome statement, attended by Elena Sorlini and Sherine Al-Maskari, Director of Protocol, and included a tour of Zayed International Airport.
The Safe Trip artwork collection is an artistic mixture inspired by famous international paintings in airline advertising. Sheikha Alyazia bint Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan added artistic touches to it to embark on a qualitative journey with art. Her artworks are a unique experience showcasing the extent of interaction with art.
The Safe Trip collection toured at a solo exhibition organised at the Casa Arabe in Madrid, Spain.
As for the Mishmash series, coins were redesigned by combined symbols that range from ancient Phoenician and modern Emirati to past Islamic and others, blending common identities while still being able to represent original characteristics, which remain upheld by a renewed vitalisation.
The artwork in marble with its outline shaped after cave openings has a trail leading to nowhere. Whereas the real treasure (a design combination of ancient eastern coins) appears to be dug up beneath the marble, away from the misleading points.
The I Met a Traveler from an Antique Land show was previously exhibited at the PI Artworks Gallery in London, in the UK.
The collection Safe Trip and I Met a Traveler from an Antique Land were also displayed at the Contemporary Inscriptions exhibition, at Bayt Al Sinnari (affiliated with the Library of Alexandria), a historical landmark in Sayeda Zeinab, Cairo.
